Waitohi Bush Reserve

Waitohi Bush Reserve

Timaru District, Canterbury Region, South Island, New Zealand

Two short walks are in this reserve, we only followed one Distras the track was very overgrown.  We heading down towards the Kowhai track, about 1.5km,  parts of the track had been cleared but still a lot to be done.  Lots of fantails flying around and very dark in places.  There is space at the top of this reserve for camping, lovely views from the camping area.

Orari Gorge Track

Orari Gorge Track, Geraldine area, Canterbury region, NZ

This is a short approx 3km loop, upon entering the trees, this track heads straight up hill.  We walked clockwise, there are some sections of steep hill involved, especially for one such as myself (overweight and unfit).  I wouldn’t say there is a view from the top, there is a beach seat where you can relax, catch your breath and enjoy the greenery surrounding you.  Lots of curious Fantails flying around, never keeping still for photos.

Trying to keep active…

Exploring the different short walks I find around me, is my way of trying to keep  myself active and show my children the beauty that surrounds us, in little old New Zealand.  I thought it might be nice to share some of the spots, places, walks I’ve ambled along.
